As the Central Feature starts to take shape, the paddocks are prepared and hay bales begin to wind their way up the hillclimb, Goodwood is getting ready to host the 30th edition of the world-renowned Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.
Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place Thursday 13 – Sunday 16 July. With tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday sold out, attention now turns to the opening day of the event, with limited Thursday tickets remaining at goodwood.com.
Here’s a tantalising taster of what to expect on the opening day of the Festival of Speed:
World-exclusives, debuts and reveals
Be the first to see automotive world exclusives, debuts and reveals, with Thursday set to be the event’s most memorable opening day to date.
Visitors to the Supercar and First Glance Paddocks can get up close to over 100 of some of the most innovative and anticipated vehicles from across the automotive industry. Expect to see public debuts of the Caterham Electric Seven, Hyundai Ioniq 5, McMurtry Spéirling Track Car, Porsche 718 Spyder RS, and the UK debut of the BMW 5 Series Saloon – with many other marques keeping things under wraps for now.
Take a walk on the hillclimb
The famous Goodwood Hill will be open on Thursday morning to all those who wish to explore the iconic track. The walk will allow visitors to see the event from a whole new perspective, sharing the views experienced by the great and the good of motorsport past, present and future.
For the first time, Thursday will also play host to practise for Sunday’s Shootout, as competing cars take to the Hill in timed runs. They will be joined by fan favourites such as ‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett, Travis Pastrana and WRC teams.

All eyes will turn to the sky, as the Red Arrows are set to stun spectators with a spectacular display on Thursday and Friday, as well visiting the event to meet and greet crowds. Renowned for their magnificent displays, the Royal Airforce Aerobatic Team has become a mainstay of the Festival of Speed, and this year, fans can enter our competition to be in with the chance of having lunch with the Red Arrows team at the event. Central Feature unveiled
Thursday ticket-holders will be among the first to appreciate the full scale of the Goodwood Festival of Speed Central Feature, which this year celebrate 75 years of Porsche. Expect to see cars from Porsche’s history displayed on the sculpture, designed by Gerry Judah.
Get closer to the action…motorsport machinery and megastars
Fresh from the British Grand Prix, the Festival of Speed will host McLaren Formula 1 Team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Team and Williams Racing.
In what is set to be the Festival of Speed’s biggest-ever celebration of MotoGP, teams including Ducati Lenovo Team, GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3, LCR Honda and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing will take their place at the event, with additional teams and riders to be announced shortly.
Classics full of characters: The Cartier Style et Luxe
Be the first to see one of the finest concours d’elegance in the world at the Cartier Style et Luxe Lawn. In contrast to the noise and excitement of the hillclimb, Cartier Style et Luxe sets itself apart with stunning static displays that celebrate incredible automotive design and elegance. With an incredible line-up of classics on show, it will be a real competition for first place, as our judges award best in show on Sunday afternoon.
Looking ahead: Future Lab and Electric Avenue
With a focus on future mobility and technology, a selection of the latest EVs will be on show in Electric Avenue presented by bp pulse, and a curated line-up of over 20 pioneering international companies will exhibit in Future Lab presented by Randox.
A special year for motorsport at Goodwood
This year, as the Festival of Speed turns 30, we also celebrate 75 years since Goodwood Motor Circuit first opened its doors. Marking this occasion, ‘Goodwood 75’ will be the overarching theme for the Festival of Speed, as the event continues to champion the future of mobility and technology.
