Two weeks ago, the ‘West Strand’ in Portrush came alive to the sights and sounds of some of the finest models to wear a ‘blue oval’ and the ‘Causeway Coast Ford Fair’ is by far the largest car display event to be held in the popular seaside town each year.
The event attracts upwards on 10,000 people each year, and let’s be honest there is nothing quite like a cheeky fish supper on the promenade, followed by an ice cream, especially with an abundance of Ford vehicles including vintage, modern and sport on display.
Over 400 of the finest examples of classic, performance and modern Fords descended on an unusually sun-soaked North Coast and with temperatures in the mid 20’s with clear blue skies, you would be forgiven for thinking you were at an event in Santa Monica, it’s no wonder that thousands of visitors turned up on the day.
TrustFord, in conjunction with the Capri Club NI, RS Owners Club and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, once again excelled with this event which was first held back in 2005.
From humble beginnings with a relatively small show, Causeway Coast Ford Fair is now a major calendar event for the Causeway Coast and Glens region and one not to be missed by many enthusiasts and traders alike.
It was great to see the manufacturer and franchises supporting the event, mostly in the form of the all-new Fiesta ST was unveiled to the public for the first time in NI, during the show whilst the dealers had brought along many new models from across the Ford range, including some stunning Mustangs and a special edition Focus RS.
It was great to see this show, now in its 14th year, growing in size and popularity and long may it continue and over the years, the event has also raised thousands of pounds for very worthy charities, including British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
We must say congratulations to Lawrence Doherty who won Car of the show with his 1980 RS 2000 Mk2.
