MOTORSPORT NEWS PRESENTS 60 YEARS OF BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP AT AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL
Autosport International will play host to the start of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with a flurry of news from the series including driver announcements, car reveals and guest appearances on the dedicated feature.
The 2018 BTCC season will get underway on the feature, located in Hall 6 (Stand 6740), where media and fans will be able to get up close to drivers and a selection of the latest machinery and a number of historic cars from the championship’s distinguished past.
The 2018 HMS Racing Alfa Romeo and the Power Maxed Racing cars set to take pride of place over the course of the four-day show, with the Motorbase Ford Focus arriving for the weekend.
The feature will also play host to a selection of historic BTCC racers from the series’ past, including the legendary Rover SD1 raced by Steve Soper in 1983, an Alfa 155 which took Gabriele Tarquini to championship glory in 1994 and a Lotus Cortina.
The BTCC action doesn’t end on the feature though, as five BTCC champions are confirmed to attend over the weekend at Autosport International.
Reigning BTCC champion Ash Sutton will be performing various duties around the show, including interviews on the Autosport Stage and Motorsport News BTCC feature, in company with fellow champions Gordon Shedden, Colin Turkington, Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan.
There will be further cars to be found on display across the show, including the Simpson Race Exhausts Stand (Hall 7 Stand 7660) and the Motorbase Performance challenger on the Mountune stand (E462 in Hall 9) for the dedicated trade days in Autosport Engineering before moving to the Motorsport News feature for the two public days.
Matt James, Motorsport News Editor, said: “The British Touring Car Championship has been rewarding fans with wheel-to-wheel action at every race event throughout its illustrious 60 year history.
We cannot wait to celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of the racing that we love so dearly with fans at the show. A selection of drivers will be on hand to talk about the upcoming season on our live interview stage.
Make sure you join the drivers and a selection of historic and new cars on the Motorsport News BTCC feature at Autosport International next week.”
