RENAULT TWINGO E-TECH ELECTRIC HOPS INTO UK SHOWROOMS

Ahead of order books opening later this year, more than 100 Absolute Green examples of Renault’s characterful new electric city car are giving UK buyers an early close-up look.

Renault’s newest small EV has made an early leap across the Channel. The Twingo E-Tech electric — already nicknamed ‘Le Frog’ — is arriving at Renault retailers across the UK, giving customers the chance to see the compact city car in person before general ordering opens later in the year.

The retailer preview will place left-hand-drive display cars on static show across the Renault UK network in the coming days. For many buyers, it will be the first convenient opportunity to get close to the car’s retro-inspired design, compact proportions and practical urban packaging without waiting for the official sales launch.

The display fleet numbers more than 100 cars, all finished in Absolute Green and brought over specially from France. After landing in the UK, the cars are being sent to official Renault retailers on dedicated transporters carrying Twingo E-Tech electric models only — a distinctive convoy that turns the car’s pre-launch build-up into a small spectacle of its own.

Interest in Renault’s latest electric icon has been building since its official reveal, following the momentum created by Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Renault 4. Until now, UK appearances have been limited mostly to headline events and curated brand experiences.

The car made its UK debut at rnlt London Battersea before taking a starring role in the maison renault experience on Oxford Street, where many visitors saw it for the first time. It then moved from city-centre showcase to motoring stage with its first major UK automotive event appearance at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Adam Wood, Managing Director, Renault UK, said: “Interest in Renault EVs is soaring, with Twingo really grabbing people's attention and following in the footsteps of the Renault 5 and Renault 4. Such is the enthusiasm ahead of its official launch, that introducing LHD static display cars to our retailers is a great way to answer customers’ questions and give them an early and highly convenient way to experience Twingo’s unmistakeable style, clever packaging and sheer personality.”

That personality has already translated into awards recognition, even before the car reaches UK showrooms as an orderable model. Twingo E-Tech electric was named ‘Electric Car of the Year’ at the TopGear.com EV Awards 2026, where judges praised its intelligent simplicity, efficiency, comfort and character. It was later named ‘Best Small Car’ at the 2026 Autocar Awards, with its clever packaging, bright interior and engaging driving experience singled out for praise.

Beneath the cheerful styling, Renault is positioning the Twingo E-Tech electric as a practical answer to urban motoring. Compact exterior dimensions are matched with a flexible cabin, including independent sliding rear seats that can prioritise passenger space or luggage room. A 27.5kWh LFP battery and lightweight 60kW electric motor deliver a targeted WLTP range of up to 163 miles*.

The technology list also gives the A-segment model a bigger-car feel. Depending on version, features include One Pedal driving and OpenR Link with Google built-in, while Renault is targeting a starting price below £20,000.

Customers who want to be near the front of the queue can already buy the Renault Twingo R Pass for £100. The package gives priority ordering ahead of the general public, exclusive model updates, a dedicated concierge service, a miniature Renault Twingo E-Tech electric model and a distinctive green Renault key cover.
