The smallest offering from Japanese car manufacturer Mazda’s vast line-up of cars and SUV’s is the Mazda 2 and it’s now available as a full hybrid vehicle.
Priced from £24,135 is it a fair bit less affordable than it’s petrol counterpart, which starts from £18,625. But with the potential of 0% ARP on PCP, should you meet the current T&C’s, it could work out a sensible choice in comparison.

Parked beside a petrol, or mild hybrid Mazda 2, you will soon realise they look nothing alike. And with good reason, too, as the full hybrid Mazda 2 is actually a Toyota Yaris, built in the Toyota factory in France, and fitted with restyled parts and Mazda badging.

Powered by just one engine, the Mazda 2 Hybrid’s 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which Produces 92hp, is paired to a 59kW electric motor which assists the front wheels. A combined power output of 116hp, Ground via a CVT automatic transmission, progress the Mazda 2 Hybrid from 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds. Such power is more than adequate around time, and perfectly suitable on the open roads. With a claimed 70mpg being achievable, my week spent with the car pictured saw I return of over 60mpg. Which is incredible.
Inside, the Mazda 2 Hybrid is comfortable and offers all of the comfort, convenience, and phone connectivity you would expect. Being a city car, it’s compact design means a long run with four adults aboard could become fairly claustrophobic.
Mazda offer a 3 years / 60,000 miles with servicing every 10,000 miles or 12 months (whichever comes sooner).
