BYD’s seven-seat Ti 7 brings plug-in hybrid punch to the UK SUV market
Priced from £47,995, BYD’s first UK seven-seater combines family practicality with 408PS DM-p performance
BYD is preparing to push further into the UK family SUV market with the Ti 7, its first seven-seat model for British buyers and the first BYD sold here with the brand’s DM-p performance-focused plug-in hybrid powertrain. Starting from £47,995, the new flagship SUV is pitched as a spacious, highly equipped alternative for drivers who want long-distance flexibility without giving up electric refinement.
Developed with European and UK customers in mind, the Ti 7 packages three rows of seating, all-wheel-drive performance and a generous standard specification into a boxy, contemporary design. It is a clear statement of intent from BYD: this is a car designed not simply to enter the seven-seat SUV class, but to challenge it on value, technology and usable performance.
Performance with a plug-in hybrid twist
At the heart of the Ti 7 is BYD’s DM-p Super Hybrid system. The setup combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with electric drive at the front and rear, producing a total output of 408PS. That gives this seven-seat SUV a distinctly performance-led character: BYD quotes 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 118mph.
Yet the system is intended to be as much about efficiency as acceleration. In everyday use, the petrol engine can operate primarily as a generator for BYD’s 35.6kWh Blade Battery, helping to blend the immediate response of electric driving with the reassurance of petrol-assisted range. BYD says the Ti 7 can travel up to 74 miles on electric power alone, with final figures still to be confirmed.
Flagship specification as standard
The UK line-up keeps things simple: the Ti 7 will be offered solely in Excellence AWD trim. That means buyers get the full suite of equipment from the outset, rather than having to work through a complicated list of upgrades. It also gives the car a strong showroom pitch against established rivals, particularly given its starting price.
Visually, the Ti 7 leans into the rugged SUV look. Its upright stance, squared-off surfacing and chunky wheel-arch extensions give it presence, while 20-inch alloy wheels and rear privacy glass add to the upmarket feel.
LED lighting is fitted all round, including headlights with a dynamic welcome animation. Door-mirror puddle lights are also included, adding a useful touch for drivers returning to the car after dark.
Six exterior finishes will be available. Starlight Silver is offered at no extra cost, while Mountain Green, Obsidian Black, Jade Green and Titanium Grey each add £1,100. Matte Titanium Grey sits at the top of the paint menu, priced at £2,000.
BYD has also paid attention to refinement. Acoustic glass is used for the windscreen and front windows, while a panoramic glass roof helps open up the cabin and bring light into all three rows.
Inside, the Ti 7 aims to feel more like an executive lounge than a conventional family hauler. Leather upholstery is standard and can be specified in black, light grey or brown. The front seats and outer second-row seats are heated and ventilated, and three-zone climate control allows each row to set its own temperature. Between the front seats, an in-car refrigerator and drinks warmer adds an unexpectedly premium flourish.
The technology package is equally prominent. A 15.6-inch central touchscreen anchors the dashboard, supported by a 10.25-inch digital instrument display for the driver, while an 18-speaker audio system is designed to give the cabin a more immersive feel.
Space for seven — and their luggage
For a seven-seat SUV, comfort beyond the front row matters just as much as specification. BYD says middle-row passengers benefit from seats that adjust in four directions, with generous knee room and headroom across the row.
The third row gives the Ti 7 the flexibility expected of a large family SUV. With all seven seats in place, boot space stands at 126 litres. Fold the third row away and capacity rises to 970 litres; fold both the second and third rows and the total reaches 1,830 litres.
Ordering and first deliveries
The Ti 7 is available to pre-order now through BYD retailers, with first UK deliveries expected in January 2027. Customers can secure an early build slot with a £500 pre-order, which BYD says it will match with a further £500 contribution. Full final specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
