Mazda CX-6e: UK pricing confirmed for Mazda’s new electric SUV

Mazda has confirmed UK pricing and specification for the all-new CX-6e, its latest all-electric SUV and one of the brand’s most important new arrivals. Due to reach UK roads later this year, the CX-6e will be offered in two generously equipped grades: Takumi, priced from £42,990, and Takumi Plus, priced from £45,350.

First shown at the Brussels Motor Show in January, the CX-6e signals a confident step forward for Mazda’s electric ambitions. Beneath its sculpted bodywork sits a 78kWh battery feeding a rear-mounted motor that produces 258PS and 290Nm of torque. The result is a mid-sized SUV designed to combine Mazda’s familiar driver-focused character with the long-distance reassurance of up to 300 miles of WLTP range2.

Mazda’s engineers have also aimed to retain the brand’s Jinba Ittai philosophy — the sense of harmony between car and driver — in an electric package. Instant torque, rear-wheel drive and a single-speed transmission promise smooth, linear acceleration, while the cabin places technology at the centre of the experience without losing sight of comfort and craftsmanship.

Performance is measured rather than theatrical: the CX-6e accelerates from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds^ and reaches a top speed of 115mph. Charging should be equally straightforward. A maximum DC charging rate of 200kW allows a 10-80% charge in just 24 minutes, while an 11kW three-phase onboard charger supports Type 2 AC charging for home and destination use.

Inside, the CX-6e moves away from conventional premium cues and towards a cleaner, more contemporary feel. Takumi models are available with Stone or Black Maztex3, Mazda’s vegan alternative to leather, while Takumi Plus introduces a distinctive two-tone Amethyst and White Maztex finish. The material has been developed to be durable, easy to clean and comfortable in everyday use.

The equipment list is deliberately generous. Takumi models feature 19-inch wheels as standard, with 21-inch wheels available for £1,000. The flagship Takumi Plus gains 21-inch wheels as standard, along with digital rear-view and side cameras, a translucent interior styling bar with ambient lighting, heated outer rear seats and ventilated outer rear seat bases. Rear passengers also gain additional touchscreen controls for selected comfort functions.

Technology is central to the CX-6e’s appeal. A sweeping 26.45-inch touchscreen dominates the smart cockpit, using a customisable dual-split layout that can give passengers access to information and entertainment while helping the driver stay focused. A large head-up display projects navigation guidance into the driver’s line of sight, while gesture control allows quick access to saved routes or music without reaching for a button.

Voice recognition has been designed around natural everyday requests, from adjusting the cabin temperature and opening the windows to finding a destination. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are included, and the CX-6e also has its own dedicated app with remote functions such as Bluetooth® key sharing and battery charge management.

Safety has not been treated as an afterthought. Every CX-6e features nine airbags and a network of high-definition cameras, millimetre-wave radar and ultrasonic sensors. These systems support a full suite of driver-assistance features, including Smart Brake Support, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring, giving the car a strong family-focused safety brief.

Yet it is the design that is likely to make the first impression. Mazda describes the CX-6e as an evolution of its Kodo – Soul of Motion philosophy for the electric era, shaped around a “Soulful Futuristic Modern” theme. The long 2,902mm wheelbase and short overhangs give the SUV a planted stance, while also helping create useful practicality: the 468-litre luggage bay expands to 1,434 litres with the second row folded flat. Seven exterior colours will be offered, led by Nightfall Violet, a deep gloss shade that shifts from purple tones to near-black depending on the light.

The sense of space continues inside. Inspired by the Japanese concept of Ma — the beauty of empty space — the cabin is designed to feel open, calm and intelligently arranged, with generous head, leg and shoulder room for all occupants. For Mazda, the CX-6e is not simply another electric SUV, but a showcase for how the brand intends to blend design, technology and driving enjoyment in its next generation of electrified models.

Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK, said the new SUV arrives “hot on the heels of the Mazda6e” and combines “great design, driving enjoyment, and advanced technology”. He added that the pricing should make the CX-6e a compelling proposition in the UK’s competitive electric SUV segment, while supporting Mazda’s wider ambition to reduce CO₂ and expand its electric portfolio through a multi-solution approach.
