A few years ago now, Toyota launched their all new flagship sports coupé. This sports car was to be front engine and rear wheel drive with decades of heritage and pedigree going into the design and build. The vast majority of the heritage and pedigree, stemmed from the Toyota 2000GT and the Toyota Corolla AE86.

Sunday 5th June saw a rather large gathering of like minded car enthusiasts gather in Lisburn ahead of “Renegade Run 3” which is simply a drive from point A to point C via a stop off at point B with participants of all ages getting involved and in cars from classic hot hatches right up to brand new supercars with absolutely everything catered for in between.

Commercial vehicle reviews for me have never gone passed pick-up trucks, of which I have had my fair share and one of which in particular got the same reaction as this new LDV V80 van has gotten from the masses. A reaction of “what is that thing” or after a sharp inhale of breath “sure are they not Chinese, I wouldn’t fancy that”.

The Fiat 500 has, from its launch in the late 1950’s been a super-mini with an abundance of character, however back then it may not have been classed as a super-mini, as it was, I would imagine the same size as many small cars of the era, it’s just that in recent decades cars have grown to an extent that they no longer fit in parking spaces.

Sunday 22nd May saw many smiles especially for Irish team mates Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle. After what can only be described as a thrilling, high level drive from the Dungannon man, the crew went on to win the Portugal round of the World Rally Championship in their Abu Dhabi backed Citroen Racing DS3 WRC!

Citroen World Rally Championship driver Kris Meeke says every rally fan should visit Sol Rally Barbados “at least once”. The Ulsterman made the remark when he joined the Circuit of Ireland’s Chief Marshal Raymond Linton last week to pick the names of two motor sport volunteers who will enjoy a trip to Sol RB16 next month (June 3-5) out of the prestigious Ulster Automobile Club Trophy.

The Balmoral Show is most certainly one of the biggest events on the annual Northern Ireland calendar and in recent years having moved from the Balmoral Showground’s at the Kings Hall in Belfast to their new site at The Maze the show hasn’t stopped growing.
