Paul Mooney holds a two-point advantage over fellow MV Racing entry, William Armstrong, following the first two rounds of the Buggy Ireland Championship at Latton and Kirkistown – the latter where County Tyrone’s Mooney claimed his first overall win.

Armstrong won the opener at Latton on the Cavan and Monaghan border by a mere 0.44 seconds from LDR Buggy Hire’s Darrach Duffin, while Mooney was in charge at Kirkistown by over two seconds.
Inaugural champion Kevin Meenagh missed round one due to other commitments but returned in fine form to finish second at round two ahead of Master winner Jason Curran.
Chris McElhinney was fastest of the Labase drivers, almost 15 seconds from Curran but over five seconds up on Armstrong. Jeremy O’Brien meanwhile has got to grips with his move up to Division One this season with seventh.

After two rounds Thomas Wedlock (in third overall) leads Division 3 following a narrow Kirkistown category win from Philip Armstrong. Chrissy Hughes was third ahead of Stephen Kearney while the category was won by Gareth Greer at Latton back in March.
Round three provides a second visit to Latton on the only Sunday date of the year – June 1 before the fast-paced St Angelo Airport hosts the bonus points round on July 26. The summer schedule continues with the announcement of a new track at the Maze, Lisburn on August 23. Kirkistown will round out the championship again on October 4.
