Isuzu has unveiled the Latest D‑Max, bringing a comprehensive refresh to the UK’s best‑known workhorse pick‑up. With updated styling, improved safety technology, enhanced off‑road performance and a simplified range structure, the latest D‑Max aims to strengthen its reputation among both commercial and lifestyle buyers.

Stronger, Smarter, Safer

The latest model builds on the already impressively capable platform with a series of mechanical and technological upgrades:

Key Enhancements

  • Rough Terrain Mode (RTM): New for latest, improving wheel‑spin control and off‑road traction.
  • Revised ADAS Suite: Expanded camera field of view, better object recognition, updated Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control and more responsive Autonomous Emergency Braking.
  • New Bi‑LED headlights (DL40 & V‑Cross) and redesigned grille for a sharper, more assertive look.
  • Upgraded infotainment:
    • 8" wireless touchscreen standard on Utility, DL20 and DL40

All models continue to use Isuzu’s proven 1.9‑litre turbodiesel engine, producing 164 PS and 360 Nm, paired with a 6‑speed manual or automatic transmission. The truck retains its headline working credentials: 3.5‑tonne towing capacity and over 1‑tonne payload. The model tested has a top speed of 112mph with a 0-62mph time of 13 seconds.

Business Range (Utility)

Aimed squarely at fleet and commercial operators, Utility models are available in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations with single, extended or double cab layouts. Standard equipment includes vinyl flooring, steel wheels, automatic headlights, reversing camera, ADAS, and the new 8" touchscreen.

All‑Purpose Range (DL20, DL40, V‑Cross)

These versions add comfort and premium features suited to mixed professional and recreational use.

  • DL20: Heated seats, carpet flooring, premium cloth interior, rear armrest and silver 18" alloys.

This Isuzu D‑Max V‑Cross came exceptionally well equipped, fitted with a comprehensive range of premium accessories. These included an ARB Ascent Hardtop Gullwing Canopy (£3,097.50 fitted, excl. VAT), a Carpet BedRug (£637.50 fitted, excl. VAT), Black Steel Side Bars with Steps (£625.33 fitted, excl. VAT), a Tow Bar (£371.00 fitted, excl. VAT), and 13‑pin towing electrics (£234.83 fitted, excl. VAT). Additional enhancements comprised a Bonnet Protector (£172.08 fitted, excl. VAT), Front and Rear Door Visors (£136.08 fitted, excl. VAT), an ARB Baserack with Cab Mount Kit (£1,035.00 fitted, excl. VAT), and an impressively bright Lazer Lamp Roof Bar Kit (£820.00 fitted, excl. VAT).

With such an array of technology and driver‑assist features, I found myself quickly connecting with what is already one of my favourite workhorses. The rear canopy, in particular, stands out: its LED lighting activates automatically when opened, it locks in sync with the vehicle via the key fob, and the side windows open using a subtly integrated release button for easy access.

With these upgrades and specialist accessories included, the truck’s total cost comes to just over £49,000 plus VAT. All new Isuzu D‑Max models are backed by a 5‑year / 125,000‑mile warranty (whichever comes first).
