The new Mercedes-Benz CLA hybrid is now available to order in the United Kingdom. It is available in Sport, Sport Executive, AMG Line Executive, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus specifications. Prices start from £38,7001.

Offered in the UK in CLA 180, CLA 200 and all-wheel drive CLA 220 4MATIC configurations, the CLA hybrid is equipped with a completely new, electrified 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine (M 252) and eight speed dual-clutch transmission (8F-eDCT). The turbocharged four-cylinder motor, developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz, uses the more efficient Miller combustion cycle and is part of the Mercedes-Benz Family of Modular Engines (FAME).

The CLA hybrid's electric motor, integrated into the new transmission, augments the combustion engine with up to 22 kW and 200 Nm of additional power and torque2. It draws power from a 48-volt 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. At urban speeds and when less than 22 kW is needed, the hybrid models can drive using electric power alone. A special feature of the motor is its ability to recuperate in all eight gears, recovering up to 25 kW of energy.

CLA hybrid models look almost identical to electric CLA models. One of the few distinguishing features is the grille, with its central star and Mercedes-Benz pattern in chrome. It is framed as standard by a LED strip, which is illuminated when the headlights are switched on.

Thanks to MB.OS and the fourth-generation MBUX, the CLA hybrid is just as intelligent and intuitive as the fully electric model. The new AI-enhanced system, developed in-house, makes it possible to equip every CLA with a supercomputer connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. This enables regular over-the-air updates for the most important vehicle functions, including driving assistance systems.

Every CLA is equipped with a 14” centre display with smartphone integration and an integrated video camera, powered by state-of-the-art high-performance chips and real-time graphics from the Unity Game Engine. From launch the MBUX Superscreen, which adds a second 14” display for the front-seat passenger, is equipped as standard from AMG Line Premium specification upwards.
