Ford and Ohme Lead the Charge Across Northern Ireland
Ford and Ford Pro have partnered with Ohme as their new electric vehicle (EV) home‑charging partner in Northern Ireland, further strengthening Ford’s commitment to making the transition to electric driving simpler and more accessible.
As part of the Ford Power Promise, Ford dealers across Northern Ireland will provide complimentary Ohme home chargers to qualifying customers. The initiative addresses common concerns identified in a recent Ford survey of 5,000 European drivers, which found that 25% feel greater uncertainty and complexity when buying an electric car, while one in eight find arranging home charging too difficult. The Ford Power Promise is designed to remove these barriers, offering reassurance and support to customers switching to electric vehicles, while saving them time and money.

Building on Ohme’s successful partnership with Ford in mainland UK through Octopus Energy, the company will deliver a comprehensive end‑to‑end solution in Northern Ireland. This includes the supply and installation of home chargers, as well as dealer training and ongoing support. Ohme, which is based in Cork — a city with a strong historic connection to Ford — is the UK and Ireland’s largest home EV charging company and the fastest‑growing EV charging business in Europe.
Lisa Brankin, Managing Director, Ford of Britain and Ireland, said:
“Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers. That’s why Ford has chosen to simplify and de‑stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one‑of‑a‑kind promise for new electric vehicle buyers. This commitment from Ford, alongside our partnership with Ohme, supports the Ford Power Promise and is designed to encourage new customers into the exciting world of electric vehicles, while stimulating demand for our freshest‑ever lineup of electric passenger cars and commercial vehicles.”
Customers can also benefit from significant savings when charging at home. Using the Power NI EV Nightshift off‑peak tariff (1am–8am), a new Puma Gen‑E can be charged from 0% to full for just £7.53, based on a rate of 17.51p/kWh using a 7.4kW charger, delivering a range of over 259 miles.
In addition to a free home charger and standard installation, the Ford Power Promise includes:
- An eight‑year or 100,000‑mile high‑voltage component and battery warranty
- Free two‑year roadside assistance and towing
- Access to more than 860 public charging points through Ford’s BlueOval Charge Network powered by Octopus Electroverse (and over 80,000 across Great Britain)
- Dedicated customer care support
David Watson, CEO of Ohme, said:
“With Ford’s long‑standing and strong presence across the island of Ireland, this collaboration is close to home both personally and professionally. With vehicles such as the new Puma Gen‑E, Capri, Mustang Mach‑E and Explorer, alongside its electrified commercial range, Ford boasts one of the strongest EV line‑ups on the market. These vehicles can now be charged using the best EV home charger available.”
Ohme’s dynamic smart chargers use real‑time grid data and are compatible with the most competitive energy tariffs across the island of Ireland. They automatically optimise charging times to reduce costs, support greener energy usage and feature a solar boost function, helping customers reduce reliance on the grid.
The partnership enables Ford customers to benefit from Ohme’s existing relationships with leading energy providers, including Energia Group, SSE Airtricity, Power NI and Click NI.
The offer applies to Ford’s entire electric passenger and commercial vehicle range in Northern Ireland, including:
- New All‑Electric Explorer
