What is the key to your success?
We have been a Volvo car dealer for 30 years. As well as making great cars, Volvo also have an overriding ethos about putting the customer first, whether by ensuring they have the safest car on the road, or by designing their newest models around their customers.
Greers of Antrim is a locally owned and run business and have always operated the same policy of putting our customers first. We have a tremendous level of repeat business and our very aware of the need to keep providing an outstanding service to our customers.
We have also been very fortunate at Greers to have great staff, who have stayed with us throughout their careers. We have many staff whose whole working life has been with our company. Their dedication, professionalism and skills have been the key to our success.
How is the industry right now?
Things have been fairly tricky in the car business over the year or two. However the strength of the Volvo brand has helped us continue to grow the company, and we have just opened our first Volvo Authorised Repairer outlet in Coleraine.
This will ensure customers can have the same high quality Aftersales care that they have been used to in our main dealership, but closer to home.
What could the Government do to help the trade?
I think that is a difficult question to answer as money is tight everywhere at present, and there are a lot of good causes that good also do with extra funding.
However, the re-introduction of a “Scrappage Scheme” similar to the one run in 2010 would certainly help generate new business, for a reasonable cost

Currently our most expensive car, at list price, would be the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid.
This starts at £48000, although is eligible for a £5000 government grant.

Our sporty Volvo C30 2.0 R-Design is on special offer from £15450 at the moment.
We also have Volvo Selekt Used Crs for as little as £4500.
What”s the most special Car you have ever sold?
Probably the first Volvo XC90 V8 Executive, but even after 30 years of selling Volvos, every sale is still special. I think when you lose that buzz it’s time to move on!
What do you drive yourself and why?
I drive a Volvo XC70. I like the security of the all wheel drive, the comfort of the big car, and the practicality of the estate car.
What”s your best tip for someone looking for a Car at the moment?
Test drive. Every dealer in
the country is delighted to get you out in
their cars and show them off, and until you’ve driven the cars you’ll really not know whether they suit you or not.
What do you like to do when you”re not at work?
I enjoy coaching rugby and my involvement with my club in Banbridge.
I also thoroughly enjoy a good walk with my wife and our dog.
