BMW M Ushers in a New Era with Fully Electric High-Performance Models…
BMW M GmbH has announced a groundbreaking shift in its high-performance lineup, introducing fully electric models based on the Neue Klasse architecture starting in 2027. This marks a new chapter for the brand, combining its racetrack heritage with cutting-edge electric technology.
The upcoming BMW M Neue Klasse models will feature BMW M eDrive, a system with four electric motors, each powering an individual wheel. This setup, paired with M Dynamic Performance Control and advanced software known as the “Heart of Joy,” promises unprecedented driving dynamics, traction, and safety. The architecture also integrates four high-performance computing units, dubbed “Superbrains,” to manage driving dynamics, infotainment, and automated driving.

Franciscus van Meel, Managing Director of BMW M GmbH, emphasized the significance of this evolution:
“The next generation of models are set to establish a new benchmark in the high-performance vehicle segment. With the latest generation of Neue Klasse technology, we are taking the BMW M driving experience to a new level and will inspire our customers with outstanding, racetrack-ready driving dynamics for everyday use.”

Christophe Koenig, Head of BMW M GmbH and BMW M Motorsport Communications, added:
“Our goal was clear: to combine the emotional essence of BMW M with the future of mobility. The integration of four electric motors and our advanced control systems means drivers will experience precision and performance like never before.”
Alexandra Landers, Head of Product and Brand Communication BMW, highlighted the sustainability aspect:
“Innovation for us is not just about performance—it’s about responsibility. By introducing natural fiber elements and optimizing battery technology, we’re reducing CO₂ emissions while delivering the ultimate driving experience.”

Performance is further enhanced by a high-voltage battery exceeding 100 kWh, optimized for both road and racetrack use. Leveraging 800-volt technology, the battery offers faster charging, high energy recuperation, and structural integration for improved vehicle stiffness. BMW has also introduced natural fiber elements for lightweight construction, reducing CO₂ emissions by 40% compared to carbon fiber.

These innovations aim to deliver the hallmark BMW M experience—now in electric form—with simulated gear shifts, bespoke soundscapes, and multiple driving modes to evoke pure emotion behind the wheel.
